Private, access controlled encrypted message transport and storage.

Desired Email is not a spam filter. It is a secure message transport.

In a nutshell, Desired Email allows the user to specify who has access to their inbox at all times and encrypts the messages between contacts.

Potential contacts are allowed to send an "Authorization Request Token" (ART) to another user's console without prior authorization. These ARTs are very limited in what they contain: 64 characters of plain text and the user's credentials verified by our server. This keeps them compact enough that they only occupy one line of space even on a mobile device.

Upon receiving it, you may accept it, deny it, block it, report it or ignore it until it expires automatically according to your settings. Note that blocking an ART blocks all future attempts until the block is removed. The original blocked ART is retained, so that contact may be resumed if the user decides to change its status from blocked to accepted.

If a user has sent an excessive number of ARTs that are reported, that user will be barred from the system. As of this writing, that "excessive" number is 3, but subject to change. These rules are in place to discourage spamming using the ARTs.

If the ART is accepted, each user gets their own key to converse with the other user. This key is stored locally on the user's machines and is used to encrypt data between these two users. The application manages all the keys on the user's local machine, and either user can revoke the key at any time. If someone starts abusing your inbox, you simply Revoke their key.

Another advantage to this system is that the messages are stored encrypted on our servers, guaranteeing privacy. Only the sender and receiver have the keys to decrypt the messages sent between them.

Note that the "keystores" may be copied between devices if the user wishes to have more than one machine connected to his account. The user may also choose to delete the Keystore from an old device s/he no longer wishes to use. NOTE WELL: The Keystore is your private property. We do not have a copy of it, and you should back it up regularly. Without it you will not be able to recover your messages.
